MasSpec Pen for Cancer Diagnosis
Using a pen-like device, engineers at the University of Texas at Austin were able to apply a tiny drop of water to the surface of tumors and then determine the tissue’s molecular profile of proteins, lipids and metabolites by mass spectroscopy. They were able to analyze twenty types of cancer tissues from 253 patients, with an overall accuracy rate of 96.3%. MORE
