Keyhole surgery—aka minimally invasive surgery—usually doesn’t create holes in the patient’s body that are large enough for a surgeon to feel around by finger touch. Consequently, engineers at Hiroshima University have designed a small vibrator that attaches to any hand held surgical instrument. It constantly sends a vibration but intensifies as the laparoscopic blade touches tissue of a different resistance. MORE
