Introspective Robots

It may be that one thing which makes humans different from other animals is the degree of self-doubt they display in decision-making. Apparently, this comes from introspection, but its usefulness is in making better decisions. So, how can this distinctly human frame of mind be translated into artificial intelligence of machines? This is a question posed in DARPA’s Robotics Challenge, and while the answer is not yet fine-tuned, it appears to be a problem of making many algorithms work together, “like a well-practiced symphony.” MORE
