Asthma Breathalyzer that Measures Nitric Oxide

Spirometrix (Pleasanton, CA) has received the European Union’s CE mark of approval for its “Fenom Pro Point-of-Care Breathalyzer” to monitoring asthma. The device is a battery operated, portable machine that measures nitric oxide levels in exhaled breath. An algorithm actually interprets data from an electrochemical reaction and sends the reading to a “decision repository” in the cloud for a calculation. Besides the biomarker (fraction of exhaled nitric oxide) the device also measures pollen count, and environmental air quality for making an asthma treatment judgment. MORE
