Automated Computer Vision Diagnoses Barrett’s Esophagus

Using 100 endoscopic images from 44 patients with Barrett’s esophagus as a study set, researchers at Eidhoven University of Technology in The Netherlands were able to write an algorithm that detected minor changes in the tissue reflecting early neoplastic lesions. The most common cause of this disease is acid reflux, which induces changes in the epithelium progressing to an adenocarcinoma. MORE
