Since April of this year, at least two hospitals have implanted Medtronic’s Micra Transcather Pacing device in patients suffering from slow heartbeat (bradycardia). Implantation directly into the heart with a catheter takes only an hour. There are no lead wires, and the device is about the size of a vitamin pill—the world’s smallest pacemaker. MORE
