Cotton Candy Machine
This sounds like the finest kitchen chemistry anyone can imagine. Researchers at Vanderbilt University used a cotton candy machine to spin out thin polymer fibers. Then, they poured a mixture of gelatin and cells over the fibers to form channels. By changing the temperature, the fibers dissolved leaving microscale channels, which could then be pump perfused with oxygen and nutrients. MORE
