Fluorescent Bandages that Display Infections

In order to have means for early detection of wound infection, materials engineers at the University of Bath and other British institutions have created a dressing made of hydrated agarose and fluorescent dye that react with common infectious pathogens and glow more intensely as germs aggregate into a biofilm. While this prototype could be developed for any kind of wound, it seems particularly useful for monitoring burns. MORE
