Non-Surgical Repair of Holes in Heart

“Blue baby syndrome” mainly comes from a ventricular septal defect, commonly known as a hole in the heart, which usually is addressed with open heart surgery. A Harvard-based team of engineers, however, has designed a catheter which can be threaded into the hole to insert a patch on both sides. Glue holds the biodegradable patch in place while a UV light cures the adhesive. See the video with this piece. MORE WITH VIDEO
