Materials engineers at Washington State University have fabricated micro cages from the protein apoferritin which open and close relative to the pH level in a tumor’s microenvironment. In this case, they loaded the cage with daunomycin and delivered it to lung tumors in their study animals. This approach ablated 70% of the tumor mass. MORE
