Vapor Therapy System to Ablate Lung Tumors

Using a technology called “InterVapor” (from Uptake Medical, Tustin, CA) physicians ablated a colon cancer metastasis to the lung. The approach relies on a bronchoscope to put a catheter close to the tumor, and then expose it to eight seconds of heated water vapor which reduced the growth and its microenvironment, before surgeons did a resection.
