Tissue Scaffolds of Micropatterned Silk Protein Hydrogel
November 17, 2015 | Terry Sharrer
Regenerative medicine relies upon artificial scaffolds for producing cell growth into a desirable shape. That scaffold material has to have pores which allow the cells to receive oxygen and nutrients. Silk protein hydrogel is such a scaffolding material, and researchers at Tufts University have demonstrated how an ultrafast femtosecond pulsing laser can create the needed micropatterning in the scaffold.
