Making Devices Easier to Swallow

Relying on a novel elastic polymer gel, biomedical engineers at MIT and Massachusetts General Hospital have developed a pH-sensitive device that can be easily swallowed, remain in the stomach for a considerable time, and then dissolve in the intestines. Among the uses this piece mentions are drug delivery, electronic monitoring and weight loss intervention, but certainly this list will grow significantly. MORE
