Clot-Busting Nanodevice

Ever wonder why an announcement for a new drug or device often says that it may take another five years of study before it is ready for “prime time.” It’s because testing anything in medicine has to pass before many thousands of eyes before a research breakthrough is fully scrutinized. Here’s such an example. Researchers at the University of Melbourne have developed a nano capsule, coated with antibodies, which targets blood clots and release clot-busting drugs. And the capsule is small enough to be administered by IV delivery. Maybe we’ll see this in EMT hands in 2020. MORE
