Just three years ago, news broke that a Massachusetts woman with “locked in” syndrome was able to think her way to drinking a mug of coffee via a brain-computer interface called “Braingate.” Now comes another astonishing story of this technology. Four paralyzed patients at a London hospital were able to use a brain-computer interface to transmit the musical score for each part, in real time, to four performers of a string quartet.
