In meso in situ Serial Crystallography

X-ray crystallography has been an essential tool for understanding protein and nucleic acid structures since the beginning of the 20th century. But the process of isolating and purifying the crystal of interest has been tedious work from the start. Now, crystallographers at Trinity College Dublin have developed what they call “in meso in situ serial crystallography” which is a means for “blueprinting” cell membrane proteins to find new targets for drug therapy. In effect this serial imaging shows how these proteins take shape and where their weak spots exist. MORE
