Engineers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (Sankt Augustin, Germany) have built a home monitoring system that tracks blood chemistry. Using a cartridge that takes a drop of blood an analytical device measures glucose, cholesterol, and lactate, but more importantly it also identifies cardiac biomarkers as would be present in a patient having a heart attack, particularly a second or third one.
