GI Tract Sensor

Described as an “EKG for the gut,” G-Tech (Mountain View, CA) is developing a small electronic patch (2.5” in diameter) that a person with a gastrointestinal disorder would wear for a few days at a time. Sensors that detect electrical signals in the stomach, small intestine and colon gather motility data, which a Bluetooth LE transmitter can forward to a receiver (presumably, a smartphone). The information would then be relevant to improving or worsening conditions of, say, Crohn’s disease or colon cancer. MORE
