Before you conclude that humanoid robots are a passing fancy (much like railroad executives thought of the automobile in the early 20th century), scroll down to the video in this piece comparing Honda’s Asimo machine and DARPA’s PETMAN military robot. From folding laundry to delivering meals and medications, housekeeping, handling regulated medical waste, moving laboratory specimens, patient transport for discharge, and dozens of other tasks, all sorts of robots could be the enabler of the semiautonomous hospital of the future.
