Smart Phone for Teleotolaryngology

One of the chief obstacles telemedicine faces is overcoming the enormous investments that uphold less effective practices, much as happened with the personal glucose meter. In this piece, Taiwanese medical scientists report on their development and clinical testing of an otorhinoendoscope attachment for a smart phone that allows the phone’s camera to image and transmit conditions in patients’ ears and noses. The advantage is that more than one physician to make a diagnosis, similar to pathologists using a gang microscope. Will otolaryngologists share patients? That’s the question. MORE
