Printing Blood Vessels

They call it “ink,” but actually it’s a gelatin-based material that forms extracellular matrix and micro vessels, while another kind contains living cells. And, with a custom-built four head 3-D printer, scientists at Harvard have produced live tissue with blood vessels. This piece, however, doesn’t report the survival rate of the cells that squeeze through an ink jet nozzle. MORE
