CRO with Searchable Database of Human Tissue
April 15, 2014 | Terry Sharrer
Biopta, Ltd. (Glasgow, UK) is a contract research organization that does drug testing using only fresh human tissue. Recently, it created a searchable database of its tissue testing based on 64 assays. An assay of certain receptors in lung or gastrointestinal tissue, for example could predict how quickly a drug might be absorbed. While this story really is a commercial enticement for Biopta, it illustrates again the rationale for creating an automated tissue repository any healthcare system could create to improve and differentiate its services.
