Using an endoscopic robot to insert a tube made of extracellular matrix, surgeons at Temple University Hospital have carried out tricuspid valve repair in the heart. The tissue regeneration aspect of this may gain the most attention, but minimally invasive surgery of this kind points out a rising trend in healthcare: i.e. any procedure that can be done as minimally invasive, will be done that way, and very often on an outpatient basis.
