Laser-Enabled Breath Analysis
March 25, 2014 | Terry Sharrer
Breath has a physiological “fingerprint” from the small amounts of gases that are released from both healthy and diseases tissue. Physicists at the University of Adelaide have developed a new laser that can detect those low concentration gases in the mid-infrared range (where hydrocarbons absorb light). This laser relies on optical fibers, operating at room temperature, to detect light emissions at 3.6 microns. MORE
