FDA Approved Stem Cell Therapy for Heart Disease

The Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN) has received FDA approval to begin stem cell therapy for chronic advanced heart failure. The process involves harvesting bone marrow stem cells and conditioning them to become “cardiopoietic” cells that supposedly will heal “broken hearts.” Eight essential proteins are active in making regenerating blood cells into heart tissue cells. European human trials will start in 2016, and the US, a year later. MORE
