3-D Atlas of the Brain

Using the brain of a 65-year old deceased woman, neuroscientists in Germany have microtomed 7,404 slices into slides which they then scanned into a computer to produce the highest revolution 3-D anatomical atlas that is available. While the resolution is greater than anything previously, it is not yet capable of a cell-by-cell image. The next step for these researchers is to create a “brain activity map.” MORE
