Questioning Hospital-at-Home Programs

Neither Medicare nor most private insurers support hospital-at-home programs at present, but evidence in favor of this approach for chronically ill patients is building—e.g. as good or better outcomes, higher patient satisfaction, and 32% lower costs than in-hospital care. The Veterans Health Administration, however, has started hospital-at-home care in Philadelphia and is expanding it in Honolulu. MORE
