Bio-Monitors Behind the Wheel

Somewhere between the car being an older person’s link to normal living and grandpa running over people on the sidewalk and not remembering it, a space exists for biosensors and e-assisted driving—which is what Newcastle University’s DriveLab is all about. Using a variety of technologies, such as eye tracking (similar to Canon’s EOS cameras), night vision, biosensors, and speed control, researchers focus on a driver’s concentration, stress levels and driving habits, as they study older people in a driving simulator.
