Problems with Sequencing Tumor Cells

It is common knowledge that it’s better to catch cancer in an early state than later. The reason is that over time tumors can become more complex—so much so that taking a biopsy at one tumor location may suggest a course of treatment that is not called for from a biopsy at another location. While this raises a perplexing problem for genomic diagnostics once cancer has presented, it also suggests that predictive DNA sequencing before any cancer appears may be the best anticancer strategy.
