CONFERENCE “Confessions of a Serial BioEntrepreneur” Steps and Missteps in Life Science Innovation and Commercialization
Wednesday, January 25th, 2012–6:30PM to 8:00PM
Presented by The Northern Virginia/DC/ Maryland Regional Chapter of SoPE in concert with JHU Carey Business School, Med Chi, and Medical Society of Northern Virginia.
Presenter: LISA BETH FERSTENBERG, M.D.
Lisa Beth is a seasoned biopharmaceutical serial entrepreneur who has participated as a senior executive in a number of early stage companies. Her expertise is primarily in the clinical development of products for anti-cancer and immunology applications, spanning new vaccines, targeted immunotherapies, stem cells and biotech innovations. She is an Adjunct Professor at the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business where she teaches entrepreneurship in the Innovate program for post-doctoral candidates interested in pursuing commercial careers.
Over the years, Lisa Beth has also enjoyed a successful consulting practice, assisting start-up companies in the biotech sector with regulatory issues and with clinical study design. Among other accomplishments, she was founding CEO for Cellective Therapeutics, Inc., a venture backed company that licensed a selective monoclonal antibody for the treatment of autoimmunity from Duke University and three other co-licensing institutions. The company had a successful exit when it was purchased by MedImmune. She has also been the CMO for Northwest BioTherapeutics, a company that developed a dendritic cell personalized vaccine therapy for brain cancer, CMO for StemCo, which developed a test to distinguish primordial stem cells in blood, and CMO for MedLogic Global Corporation, a biomaterials company where she invented and patented part of the product line.
