In a European consortium’s study of hypertension, initially involving 70k people, with 133k more for validation, researchers identified 28 genetic loci (16 of them novel) that are implicated with systolic BP, diastolic BP or both. Further, their findings cast light on the long noted link between pulse pressure and risk for heart attack and stroke-long noted, indeed, dating from Wang Shuhe’s “Mai Jing” in 3rd century China, which identified 24 different pulses.
