“MoleMate” Handheld Dermatology Device

Earlier this fall, the US FDA approved a hand held siascopy device, made by the Canadian firm MedX Health Corporation (Mississauga, Ont.), that scans the skin to identify melanomas. Named “MoleMate,” it works by measuring light that is absorbed or reflected from the key chromophores hemoglobin, melanin and collagen. An algorithm calculates the diagnosis. MORE
