“Hormone Fingerprints” for Cancer

Adrenal gland cancer is relatively rare, but often deadly because it usually has spread before detection. Moreover, today’s tests for this disease lack specificity and sensitivity. Researchers at the University of Birmingham (UK), however, have developed a proteomic panel they refer to as being a “hormonal fingerprint” for diagnosing adrenal gland cancer in urine. It promises to be an early warning, and able to differentiate between cancer and more common non-malignant tumors. MORE
