A story in the Camberra (Australia) Times cites a study Deloitte conducted which showed that nurses and doctors doing house calls were one-third less expensive than in-hospital care, without diminished quality. Obviously, with telemedicine assistance, costs might be cut dramatically further, and perhaps, through 24/7 monitoring, actually improve outcomes.
