A UK point-of-care device maker, Microvisk Technologies (St. Asaph, Wales), has demonstrated the effectiveness of a hand-held blood clotting monitor that could be used at home to track the correct dosage of anti-coagulation medications (such as Warfarin). It uses a disposable strip, similar to that of a blood glucose meter, and the company expects to begin marketing in the US by mid 2012. MORE
