Fascination with magnets has launched thousands of claims for their health benefits-in treating pain, asthma, allergies, depression, chronic fatigue, sleep disorders and more. But this piece, from researchers at the Center for Evolutionary Nanoparticles at Yonsei University (Seoul, ROK) proposes how magnetism could be used to “fry” tumors. In animal studies, they injected microscopic iron particles into tumors and then exposed the mice to a magnetic field that reverses directions fast enough to generate 109 F temperature which destroyed tumors in a matter of minutes.
