Surgical patients under full sedation typically have a breathing tube inserted to manage their airways. Inserting that tube may be routine, but it seldom is easy because of individual variation. To advance this procedure, Professor Thomas Hemmerling of McGill University has developed a robotically controlled video-laryngoscope, and, last April, began clinical trials or this “Kepler Intubation System” at Montreal General Hospital.
