Ultrasound opeing blood-brain barrier

Using a headset to beam low-intensity ultrasound over the entire brain, for an hour’s duration, Perfusion Technology (Andover, MA) believes it has an approach that would allow drugs to pass more readily through the blood-brain barrier’s densely packed cells to, say, malignant tumors.  Animal studies have shown positive results; now the company must demonstrate that the technique does not cause excessive bleeding.  MORE
