“TriageBot”

Imagine a reasonably near-term time when ambulatory patients arriving at an ER check in at an electronic kiosk, sit in “smart chairs” that take vital sign readings, and confer with a triage robot that uses cognitive control technology to sort through the seriousness of the patient’s situation. This would not be the scenario for the 40% of people with life-threatening circumstances, but could serve the 60%, non-critical arrivals, that can fill and slow the ER’s flow. A group of computer and electrical engineers at Vanderbilt University believe their “TriageBot” can fill that need. MORE
