Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs)are zinc-dependent enzymes that play degrading roles with certain extracellular proteins, and have been implicated in breast and ovarian cancers, aortic aneurisms, cirrhosis and arthritis, among others.  Now, researchers at Boston Children’s Hospital believe that MMPs provide a biomarker for pediatric brain tumors and can be detected in a urine test.             MORE
