It may only be a “statistical blip,” but the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics reported that “. . . . a baby born in 2008 could expect to live about one month less than one born in 2007. . . .” The same report showed stroke mortality declining, with deaths due to respiratory diseases and hypertension rising.
