Data Mining Depression

What will be the world’s leading cause of disability by 2020? The World Health Organization predicts it will be depression. Its incidence is climbing everywhere, much like a pandemic-though one without a pathogenic organism as its cause. Investigators at Curtin University in Perth, Australia note that depression appears linked to rising hypertension and diabetes-sometimes preceding those conditions and often following. Consequently, they suppose documenting and data mining details about patients’ physical activity, dietary habits and moods could be valuable information for prevention and earlier/more effective treatment.
