Ebb Postpartum Hemorrhage

Based on the development work of Michael Belfort and Gary Dildy in Salt Lake City, Glenveigh Medical (Chattanooga, TN) has introduced a double balloon device that “ebbs” postpartum bleeding and could prevent hemorrhage and need for transfusion or hysterectomy.  Postpartum hemorrhage occurs in about 5% of all births and is the most common preventable cause of maternal death.  The double balloon inflates with a liquid and creates pressure inside the uterine wall.  MORE
