In a “world’s first” for primates, researchers at Keio University in Tokyo implanted induced pleuripotent stem cells (derived from skin) into the spine of a paralyzed marmoset, and the monkey was able to walk again in six weeks. This confirms earlier success with mice, and the group intends to push ahead with human subjects, though no timetable is mentioned in the story. MORE
