Hospital Adverse Events-180,000 of Them

The combined total of deaths in the US from Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and septicemia is roughly the same as the number of people who die in hospitals from adverse medical events. A recent Institute of Medicine report estimates that 44% of those adverse event deaths are preventable.
