Computing Above the Cloud?

At last week’s Medical Automation Conference, several of the speakers mentioned “cloud computing,” which doesn’t mean computing in the clouds, but rather, internet-based computation, where all services flow from a common provider, much like a public utility functions. Emory University professor Ramnath Chellappa coined the term “cloud computing” in 1997. Still, how about a “cloud server” above the clouds? Sanswire Corporation (Aventura, FL)-a builder of lighter-than-air, high altitude communications platforms (i.e. blimps as satellites) -does raise the thought of compu-communications from the stratosphere.
