Light Sabers for Cataract Surgery

Ophthalmologists at Stanford University have automated cataract surgery using a precision laser and optical coherence tomography. The tomography creates a 3-D map of the eye and a computer guides the placement, sizing and shape of the cutting pattern for the laser. This story says the cut is more than twelve times as precise as the traditional manual method. The name for this is the “Catalys Precision Laser System.” MORE
