In Leroy Hood’s “4P” vision, medicine of the future will be predictive, preventative, personalized and participatory. Participatory means informed patient participation. This has prompted the Markle Foundation to advocate that EMR’s have “blue bottons” to automatically transfer data to personal health records that individuals keep. The Foundation hopes that this idea will be incorporated into “meaningful use” requirements for Medicare/Medicaid. MORE
