There’s more than one way to explore personalized medicine, and researchers at the Monell Center in Philadelphia are doing so through the senses of taste and smell. In 1967, the Ambrose Monell Foundation created this facility at the University of Pennsylvania, which now engages more than 60 PhD-level scientists in the neuroscience, molecular biology and physiology of the chemical senses.
