Stampede of the Avatars
April 27, 2010 | Terry Sharrer
This item seems unconnected to our theme of medical automation-at first glance. It is about a simulation software program called “SportEvac” which shows how 70,000 avatars might react to a terror event in a major league stadium. It was developed at the University of Southern Mississippi with funding from the US Department of Homeland Security’ Science & Technology Directorate. This kind of data dense simulation, however, might be used to image an imaginary infection/immune response scenario, or pathways of neural transmission during flight or fight excitement. MORE
